Kelly Newsom, D.A.
Growing up in rural Georgia, Kelly realized early in life that helping people was her calling. After graduating high school, she enrolled in the nursing program at Floyd College intent on a career in nursing with emphasis on care for the elderly. While in school she worked at a retirement community which reinforced her career choice -- or so she thought. Dealing with death and the passing of people with whom she had become close drove her to seek another career.
Kelly Newsom, D.A.
Accounting and numbers had always come easily to Kelly, so she chose to pursue a business career. Through several jobs, she found that she was very good at what she did but she was not fulfilled or happy working with numbers rather than people. In early 2003 she took a chance and answered an ad for a Dental Assisting position. Before meeting Dr. Kurtzman and his staff, she had never considered a career in dentistry. In her words, "As soon as I walked into the office I knew this was where I was supposed to be." Three months later, Kelly started her dental career with us and has become an excellent, enthusiastic and cherished team member. She has learned assisting on the job and has attended formal training and earned degrees in Dental Assisting and Dental Radiography.
